Benefits of Massage

Massage provides a great number of benefits and they are as varied as the type of massage available. Many conditions can benefit from massage services where others can be aggravated by certain types of soft tissue manipulation.

Visit with your therapist regarding your health and goals to be sure that the greatest benefit is received and injury is avoided.

Always complete a health history intake and inform your therapist of any changes in health or surgical procedures even if it seems unimportant to you.

Generally speaking, Massage Therapy:

  • Lowers blood pressure & improves heart rate
  • Increases circulation improving nutrients & oxygen
  • supply to tissues; thus increasing resistance to disease and speeding recovery from injury & illness
  • Reduces anemia by moving dormant blood cells back into circulation
  • Reduces stress, tension, headaches, depression & insomnia
  • Reduces muscle fatigue & soreness
  • Restores joint mobility & reduces joint pain
  • Helps prevent muscular atrophy
  • Aids in correction of postural deviations
  • Reduces soft tissue adhesions
  • Reduces digestive difficulties such as constipation, gas and irritable bowel syndrome
  • Reduces fluid retention
  • Boosts immune system

Massage as a Health Care Service
The State of Texas recognizes massage as a health care service if the massage therapy is for therapeutic purposes. However, where all massage and bodywork modalities offer a great number of health benefits, they are not intended to diagnose or treat any disease or illness unless prescribed by a physician. Furthermore, we make no claims of healing. Individual results will vary. God is the great physician and our hands are but the tools He may choose to use. The Massage Studio of Barbara White does not file insurance claims. If you have been referred by a physician and need a medically coded receipt to self-file, please let me know.
