From Barbara...

Barbara G. White, LMT, MTI, NCTMB

Thank you for your interst in The Massage Studio of Barbara White.

My college education is in Mathematics and Business. After beginning my career in Massage Therapy, I have continuously educated myself. There is so much to learn in life. Success is the journey, not the destination. We never know where those gifts can take us. Ask God for guidance. He will show you great and mighty things.

I began my career in 1998 by calling from God. I could not have been more certain of this calling. My husband and I were in dire financial straights trying to recover from a lost job brought about my the company I worked for closing while I was 6 months pregnant with our second son.

Through prayer, God led me to an employer that hired me at seven months pregnant. Promises that my pregnancy was healthy quickly faded when I went into pre-term labor two weeks after being hired. Under the doctor's care, I continued to work because we couldn't afford the loss of salary.

Leaving work early one morning, we rushed to the hospital to receive our newest gift, Zachary - premature and weighing 6 lbs. 14 oz. His big brother, Casey defensively announced HIS new baby. He was healthy and went home less than 24 hours after birth. God wonderfully blessed that day and has never quit.

Unhappy with the job I took out of desperation, I cried out for guidance. Later that day I received a call from a Massage school I had called 4 years earlier. I felt sure this was no coincidence. But how on earth was I to pay for this? Hmmm...God, if this is your answer, I don't understand how to get there when I can't even pay my house and car note. The next evening, my best friend returned home from out of town and called to announce they were having a garage sale in the morning and asked if we wanted to join them. It's 9:00 PM!!!! I said, but I'll to my best to get my stuff there.

Ron and I ran through the house like madmen grabbing and pricing all our junk. We hauled it out there and set it up at 6:00 AM the next day. We sold so much junk, and still had gobs left over!! It was decided that we would do it again on Saturday ..... then Wendesday ..... then Saturday again. We made my tuition and still had junk left over ...... WOW!

Okay God! If you can nickel and dime $2500 in 4 days, I'm listening. "Guide me", I said. While I was in school, I knew that if I was going to succeed, I needed to jump in with both feet but that meant quitting a paying job when our bills were already tight. Ron thought that I should work evenings until I built. We were at odds and in prayer until my employer, yes, the same one I was miserable working under, eliminated my position one month before my internship began. I guess God answered that prayer too. After a while, I learned not to question at all. I completed school with a comprehension I couldn't explain, set up in private practice and succeeded at something for the first time in my life. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

God told me that if I follow His will, He would provide the desires of my life. He did just that. I have carried with me a self-enrichment list for 15 years. The same list I made when I was 18 years old is still in my planner. I refer to it often. These are the desires of my heart, all the things I've wanted to do with my life. Yes, I have added to it over the years, but it is my reminder and focus sheet for my life. Until I was 28 years old, not a single item on that list had been fulfilled. The very first item at the top is Massage Therapy School. Next, a new violin. I had sold mine when I was in college at 16 because it was a student model and no longer performed for me. I gave up out of frustration. The list continued front and back. I obediently attended massage school and with two months after completion I had a solid clientele. This was God-given.

A really good set of friends owned a music shop that didn't carry any stringed instruments but was toying with the idea and knew I had played violin most of my life. Ed knew I wanted a new instrument. One day I was driving in front of his shop and my car just turned in. I walked through that door thinking I was just going to do it. I was going to order a new violin no matter what anyone thinks. Ed and Julie greeted me with enthusiasm. Their supplier had just hand-delivered three new violins 30 minutes before I arrived. The hair stood up on the back of my neck. They sold me a $5,000 violin that day for $2,600.

Ron was MAD! Ron was very MAD! The next morning, Sunday, a new music minister was presented to the church for approval. He was callling to re-start our church orchestra which had died down during the two-year interim music minister's leadership. He had a full-time day job and orchestra wasn't his training. I was able to pay for that violin in two months. I still play in the church orchestra.

My list has grown since then to build on the gifts and answered prayers God has given me. This Massage School was another calling I ran to meet and comes with many more testimonies.

Massage is a God-guided path. In meeting and teaching it has amazed me how many others have shared a similar call into a healing field.
